Douglas Fisher, Ph.D., is Professor of Educational Leadership at San Diego State University and a leader at Health Sciences High & Middle College. He has served as a teacher, language development specialist, and administrator in public schools and non-profit organizations, including 8 years as the Director of Professional Development for the City Heights Collaborative, a time of increased student achievement in some of San Diego’s urban schools. Doug has engaged in Professional Learning Communities for several decades, building teams that design and implement systems to impact teaching and learning. He has published numerous books on teaching and learning, such as Assessment-capable Visible Learners and Engagement by Design.
Nancy Frey, Ph.D., is a Professor in Educational Leadership at San Diego State University and a leader at Health Sciences High and Middle College. She has been a special education teacher, reading specialist, and administrator in public schools. Nancy has engaged in Professional Learning Communities as a member and in designing schoolwide systems to improve teaching and learning for all students. She has published numerous books, including The Teacher Clarity Playbook and Rigorous Reading.
Dr. Nicole Law, is a dynamic and passionate educator who provides relevant professional development to schools and districts across the country. Nicole focuses her experience to present instruction on professional teacher teams, leadership improvement practices and structures, data analysis models, school improvement practices and structures, standards-based instruction and design, metacognitive teaching and learning practices, strategies for success in cognitively rigorous instruction and levels of depth of knowledge (DOK), effective teaching strategies for English Learners and students with special needs, as well as culturally responsive and equitable teaching practices.
Olivia Amador is a certified Fisher & Frey trainer. SHe has co-authored The Teacher Clarity Playbook with Douglas Fisher & Nancy frey and travels the country supporting PLC development using this research-based, hands-on guide/ Olivia is on a quest through her Corwin role to extend her reach through sharing her experiences as a transoformative leader and effective teacher with other pracitioners in support of their success with school improvement goals.
Cathy Lassiter is an international consultant with over 35 years of combined experience as a public school teacher, principal, central office administrator, and consultant. Her areas of expertise are in Visible Learning+, Deep Equity, and Teacher Clarity, as well as instructional leadership, school culture, and change management. As an author/consultant for Corwin, Cathy has worked in schools across the U.S. and Canada, and she traveled to Australia to work with teachers on Visible Learning+.
Karen T. Flories has 15 years of experience in education including special education and high school English teaching, as well as serving in the role of Literacy Director and Executive Director of Educational Services. She is currently a full time Professional Learning consultant for Corwin.

Aida Rotell Allen is a nationally recognized consultant whose primary aim is to engage all learners through reading and writing. She worked to create a bilingual program designed to build literacy skills in both Spanish and English, and often uses collaborative learning to build the social and academic language skills of her students. She is also an administrator at Health Science High and a lecturer in the teacher education department at San Diego State University.

Marisol Thayre is a teacher and author with experience teaching a large scope of students from various backgrounds, from the middle and high school to university levels. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English at the University of California at Santa Barbara and holds Master of Arts degree in English and Composition from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Marisol shares her knowledge with other teachers across the country as a presenter on Gradual Release of Responsibility, differentiated instruction, assessment, close reading and text-dependent questions, text complexity, and collaborative grouping. Marisol currently teaches Upper Division English at Health Sciences High and Middle College, a charter school in San Diego.
Ben Allred is a director of High Schools and ESL with a demonstrated history of working in elementary and secondary schools. Skilled in K-12 Educational Leadership, Professional Development, Special Education, Technology, and English as a Second Language.
Dave Nagel is an international educational consultant and researcher. His educational career started as a middle school science and high school biology teacher. His administrative
experiences involved middle school assistant principal, high school associate principal, and director of extended day and credit-recovery programs. In his former district, Dave was instrumental in implementing power standards and performance assessments. He was honored numerous times as a ‘Senior Choice’ winner, where graduating seniors selected him as someone who dramatically affected their life in a positive way.
