A multicultural educator for many years, Jan Krieger has taught at bilingual schools throughout Central and South America, as well as in the United States. He is currently a Spanish teacher at both the middle and high school levels in Bozeman, Montana. His Masters Degree is in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Multicultural Education.

Kristi Pikiewicz is a middle school Social Studies and Language Arts teacher, author, and frequent presenter at local, state, and national conferences. Her first teaching position was at Hill Middle School in Novato, California where she was hired by the Bay Area School Reform Collaborative to work as a Title I Literacy Specialist in a highly ELL environment. She continues to value multiculturalism and hands-on learning in her classroom.

Marilyn Dunn-Bernstein’s diverse career in education spans 36 years. Along with her 20 years as a high school vice-principal, she has studied under Reuven Feuerstein and implemented the principles of structural cognitive modifiability, IE, and MLE in an extensive range of educational settings.

Martene Mentis has twenty years of experience in education and has taught at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. Her diverse educational background includes 6 years with the Cognitive Research Centre, University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, where she contributed to research, lectured in Instrumental Enrichment (FIE) workshops, and helped develop educational resources, including two books on Mediated Learning and Instrumental Enrichment.

Janette K. Klingner was a bilingual special education teacher for ten years before earning a PhD in Reading and Learning Disabilities from the University of Miami.

John J. Hoover is Associate Research Professor at the University of Colorado Boulder and a former K–12 special educator, teaching diverse students representing multiple languages and cultures in western, southwestern, and mid-western states. He earned a BA in Elementary and Special Education (Intellectual Disabilities), an MA in Learning Disabilities and Emotional Disorders with an emphasis in Reading, and a PhD in Curriculum specializing in Special Education.

Leonard M. Baca is Professor Emeritus at the University of Colorado Boulder. He earned an Ed.D. from the University of Northern Colorado and has been a professor of Education at the University of Colorado Boulder since 1973. He has taught courses in bilingual and bilingual special education and served as the program chair.

An architect, Frank S. Kelly is senior vice president and director of planning/programming for the SHW Group, an architectural, planning, and engineering firm focused on architecture for education. SHW’s practice extends across much of the country, with offices in Texas, Michigan, and Virginia.

Catherine A. Franklin is an assistant professor in the School of Education at The City College of the City University of New York. She teaches social studies education to both undergraduates and graduates. She began her career by teaching in schools around the world (e.g., Colombia, Japan). In New York City, she was a middle school classroom teacher for over ten years.
