Mike Rafferty is the Director of Teaching and Learning in Region 14 Schools in Connecticut. He has worked as a classroom teacher, a Reading Recovery teacher, a reading consultant, and a curriculum leader for language arts.
Colleen Morello is the Language Arts Specialist for the Fairfield Public Schools in Fairfield, Ct. She coaches elementary teachers, works with struggling readers and writers both in and out of the classroom, provides district-wide professional development to staff, as well as develops and presents various workshops to the parent community.
Paraskevi Rountos has been a Language Arts Specialist in Fairfield, CT for eight years. She has coached and modeled lessons for teachers of Grades Kindergarten through 5th Grade. She has also worked with students requiring reading intervention.
Laura Van Prooyen is author of two collections of poetry, Our House Was on Fire (Ashland Poetry Press 2015) and Inkblot and Altar (Pecan Grove Press 2006). She has more than 20 years experience teaching poetry and writing in a variety of academic settings including: Dominican University, Chicago Public Schools, Del Valle High School, and Henry Ford Academy: The Alameda School for Art + Design.
Mary Amanda (Mandy) Stewart is passionate about languages, literacies, and literature! She brings these areas together in her work with multilingual adolescents as they engage in critical literacy and language development across content areas using a variety of authentic texts.
Holly Genova is a high school ESOL and Newcomer teacher in Lewisville, Texas, at Lewisville High School, Harmon Campus. Holly is charged with working with marginalized students to develop English their first year in the United States, but Holly sees her work much differently than simply developing students’ English.
Jeanne L. Paynter, Ed.D. currently works as an educational consultant and faculty associate at the Johns Hopkins University. She is the founder and Executive Director of Educating Innovators, which partners with schools to implement unique teaching and learning approaches to engage and challenge all learners, including those who are academically advanced or gifted and talented.
