Faith Rogow was the founding president of the National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE), a founding advisor of Project Look Sharp, and a founding editorial board member of the Journal for Media Literacy Education. She has been a leading media literacy educator, theorist, and strategist for more than two decades, with special interest in early childhood, pedagogy, and diversity issues.

Howard M. Knoff, Ph.D. is the creator and Director of Project ACHIEVE. After 22 years as a university professor, he is now a full-time national consultant, author, and lecturer; and he has been the Director of the State Improvement/Personnel Development Grant for the Arkansas Department of Education—Special Education Unit since 2003.

David Campos began his career in education more than thirty years ago, when he started teaching second grade. He earned his Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin, specializing in learning disabilities and behavior disorders. His scholarship focuses on instructional design and delivery, childhood health and wellness, and LGBTQ children and adolescents.

Stuart F. Chen-Hayes, Ph.D., is Program Coordinator and Associate Professor of Counselor Education/School Counseling at Lehman College of the City University of New York. He is also a part-time dissertation chair for Oregon State University’s Counselor Education/School Counseling Ph.D. program.

Cary Sneider is Associate Research Professor in the Center for Science Education at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon, where he teaches research methodology to teachers in a Master’s degree program.

Dr. Fred M. Newmann, Emeritus Professor of Curriculum and Instruction, University of Wisconsin–Madison, began his education career teaching high school history and social studies in 1959.  Dissatisfied with prevailing curriculum and instruction, he completed doctoral studies at Harvard and began to attack thebroader question:  In what ways can institutions, especially schools, in a modern culture be shaped to enhance community? 

Dr. Yvonne Freeman and Dr. David Freeman are professors emeriti at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Both are interested in effective education for emergent bilinguals. They present regularly at international, national, and state conferences. They have worked extensively in schools in the U.S.

Ellen McGinnis-Smith earned her Ph.D. in Special Education at the University of Iowa and certification as a school administrator from Drake University. She has been a teacher of special education at both the elementary and secondary levels for eleven years primarily in the area of behavioral disorders. Dr. McGinnis-Smith served as an educational consultant at Child Psychiatry, University of Iowa as well as in the public schools.

Charles F. Elbot was born in Europe and lived his first twenty years as part of three cultures—French, German and American. After graduating from Wesleyan University, he pursued his dream to see the world. With his backpack, sleeping bag and only a few hundred dollars, he traveled west, crossing Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Europe over a three year period. For funds, he worked on ships out of Bali and Singapore.

Dawn Miller, Ph.D. is Associate Director of Technical Assistance of SWIFT Education Center at the University of Kansas.  Her early career focused on creating local educational support processes that address student needs and support educators and families.

Thomas Hatch (@tch960) is a Professor at Teachers College, Columbia University and Director of the National Center for Restructuring Education, Schools, and Teaching (NCREST). His research includes studies of school improvement efforts at the school, district, and national levels.
