He formerly was IBM Professor of Psychology and Education at Yale. His BA is from Yale summa cum laude and his PhD is from Stanford. He also holds 13 honorary doctorates. He is a member of the National Academy of Education and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Larry E. Frase was professor and department chair of educational leadership in the College of Education at San Diego State University. He was a former superintendent of schools of the Catalina Foothills District in Tucson, Arizona, and is the author, coauthor, or editor of 23 books and 80 professional journal articles. His books include Top Ten Myths in Education; School Management by Wandering Around; and Teacher Compensation and Motivation.

Peter W. Hewson is Professor of Science Education at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He is also the director of a project to develop collabo­rative research in science and mathematics education between South Africa and the United States. Susan Wheelan was president of GDQ Associates, Inc. Until 2001, she was a professorof psychological studies and faculty director of the Training and Development Centerat Temple University. Dr. Wheelan received Temple University’s Great Teacher Awardin 1992. She also worked as a psychologist in a number of hospital and clinical settings.
