ANOLA PICKETT is an educator and author. She holds a BA in English from Webster University and an MEd in Inner City Studies from Northeast­ern Illinois University. After teaching for more than 20 years in the pre­school through college levels, she is currently the librarian at St. Francis Xavier School in Kansas City, MO. April M. Swick was assigned to Clement Avenue Elementary School, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in August 1990 and began with a class of combined fourth and fifth graders. She was a highly involved staff member, concerned not only with the success of the children in her classroom but also with the betterment of the entire school population. She belonged to a wide variety of com-mittees and worked to ensure schoolwide discipline, a positive climate, and school spirit.

Karen Lee Fontaine, R.N., M.S.N., is Professor of Nursing at Purdue University Calumet, where she has been teaching for 20 years. She is also a certified sex therapist and maintains a private practice coun­seling individuals and couples. Her publishing awards include the American Journal of Nursing Book of the Year Award (2000) for Healing Practices: Alternative Therapies for Nursing and the Annual Nursing Book Review Sigma Theta Tau (2000) for Mental Health Nursing (4th edition).

Patricia Wolfe is an independent consultant who speaks to educators in schools across the United States and in international schools. Her professional background includes public school teaching at all levels: staff development trainier for the Upland School District, director of instruction for the Napa County Office of Education, and a lead trainer for the International Principal Training Center in Rome and London.

Robert DiGiulio is Education Professor at Johnson State College in Vermont. He earned his Ph.D. in human development from the University of Connecticut, and recently earned his D.Ed. in socio-education from the University of South Africa. He began his teaching career in the New York City public school system, where he taught for a number of years.

Lawrence Steel is a special services teacher at Centennial High School in Ellicott City, Maryland.  Prior to becoming a teacher in 1993, he worked as a computer system operator for a United States Senator in Washington D.C.
