William N. Bender, PhD, has had a long and distinguished career in education, teaching in public school for several years and in higher education for some 26 years at Blue?eld State College in West Virginia, Rutgers University in New Jersey, and the University of Georgia. He has written 36 books in special and general education. With his retirement, he has stepped back from his rigorous workshop schedule, which as recently as 2016 included some 40 workshop days per year.

Larkin taught public school students in general education and special education at the elementary, middle, and secondary levels for several years before beginning a career in higher education. She has authored and coauthored 17 journal articles, 10 book and monograph chapters, and 5 research reports and commissioned papers in education and special education. She specializes in instructional strategies, particularly for students with learning disabilities.

Linda Skrla is Professor of Educational Administration at Texas A&M University. Prior to joining the Texas A&M faculty in 1997, Linda worked as a middle school and high school teacher and as a campus and district administrator in public schools. Her research focuses on educational equity issues in school leadership, including accountability policy, high success school districts, and women superintendents.

Marcia L. Tate, EdD, is the former executive director of professional development for the DeKalb County School System in Decatur, Georgia. During her thirty-year career with the district, she has been a classroom teacher, reading specialist, language arts coordinator, and staff development executive director. 

Biography Allan G. Osborne, Jr. is the retired principal of the Snug Harbor Community School in Quincy, Massachusetts, a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. During his 34 years in public education, he served as a special education teacher, a director of special education, an assistant principal, and a principal.

Robin Fogarty is President of RFA: A Robin Fogarty Company, a Chicago-based, minority-owned, educational publishing/consulting company. Robin received her doctorate in curriculum and human resource development from Loyola University of Chicago. A leading proponent of the thoughtful classroom, Robin has trained educators throughout the world in curriculum, instruction and assessment strategies.

John R. Hoyle, a professor of educational administration at Texas A&M University, is an authority on the superintendency, leadership research, and future studies. He served as president of the National Council of Professors of Educational Administration and was the first recipient of the NCPEA “Living Legend Award.” In a 2004 survey, Hoyle’s peers selected him as one of the four most “exceptional living scholars” in educational administration.

Abbie H. Brown holds a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University and an MA from Teachers College at Columbia University. He is currently an associate professor at California State University, Fullerton in the department of Elementary and Bilingual Education.
