Frances L. Van Voorhis is an associate research scientist at the Center on School, Family, and Community Partnerships and TIPS Coordinator of the National Network of Partnership Schools at Johns Hopkins University. She is the author of research articles on the Teachers Involve Parents in Schoolwork (TIPS) interactive homework process, including a study of the effects of TIPS science in the middle grades on family involvement and students’ science skills.

Dr. Margarita Espino Calderón, born and raised in Juárez, is a Professor Emerita/Senior Research Scientist at Johns Hopkins University. Her research and development projects have been funded by the US Department of Education, National Institutes of Health, the US Department of Labor, The Carnegie Corporation of New York, and various State Offices of Education.

Frank Crowther is an internationally respected scholar and researcher in educational manage­ment and leadership. He is professor and direc­tor of the Leadership Research Institute at the University of Southern Queensland, Australia. In 1997, he was awarded the Gold Medal of the Australian Council for Educational Administra­tion in recognition of his services to educational leadership.

Margaret Ferguson is district manager of ed­ucation services at Education Queensland. She has worked extensively in teacher leader development. Her work focuses on capacity building, leadership, and pedagogical enhancement in schools.

Leonne Hann is senior research associate in the Leadership Research Institute at the University of Southern Queensland. She has participated in national research projects in school innovation. Her recently completed postgraduate study deals with teacher lead­ership and successful school reform.

Rita King has more than 20 years of teacher training experience and administrative experience as principal and director of Middle Tennessee State University's teacher training program in the laboratory school. Most recently, she was an adjunct professor in the Department of Educational Leadership at the university.

Renate Nummela Caine is a principal of Caine Learning LLC and consultant to districts, schools, teachers, administrators, and communities to implement brain-based learning. She is the senior author, with Geoffrey Caine, of the groundbreaking Making Connections: Teaching and the Human Brain. She has worked with countless educators in the U.S.

Larry E. Frase was professor and department chair of educational leadership in the College of Education at San Diego State University. He was a former superintendent of schools of the Catalina Foothills District in Tucson, Arizona, and is the author, coauthor, or editor of 23 books and 80 professional journal articles. His books include Top Ten Myths in Education; School Management by Wandering Around; and Teacher Compensation and Motivation.
